chi.mp 1.5 Released
We’re very please to announce the 1.5 release of chi.mp. This release has a number of new features along with a much improved back-end architecture and a brand new home page. Here are some of changes in this release:
- We’ve added support for three more service: Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo. You may now go to the Services tab and add these three services to import contacts.
- The contact list screen now provides an alphabetical tab for paging through your contacts.
- You can now find other people on chi.mp from your Contacts page using the Find Your Friends link. When you search for and find people you can add them to your contact list right from the search screen.
- On the Manage Multiple Contacts page you can now Delete multiple contacts and make contacts private so they don’t show up on your public page. You can also merge and tag multiple contacts from this same page.
- We have created our first tutorial screencast: “Setting up Your Profile”. This tutorial can be found in the Support tab by clicking on the Getting Started Tutorials link. We will be adding new tutorials over the next few weeks.
- Most service subscriptions can now be tagged. Tagging a service subscription will cause all incoming content for that service subscription to be tagged automatically.
- We have enhanced the architecture behind chi.mp to improve the site performance and reduce the latency for pulling in content and contacts from your services.
- Beginning this week we will start providing each of owners with the ability to send out beta invites to their friends.
- We have cleaned up a number of screens to make them easier to understand.
We hope you enjoy this new release and we’d love to get your feedback on chi.mp. Whether you would like to tell us about something you love or something you loathe, we’re happy to hear from you. Go to Get Satisfaction and let us know your thoughts.

So when does the beta get a little wider? ;-)

I tried setting up the domain but it asks for a beta code. Any idea what this is?

Evan,
It is widening as we speak. We just released a small number of beta codes to our existing owners that they are free to give out to others. Additionally we will start giving out beta codes very soon to those who signed up to be notified when chi.mp was ready to go. Finally, we are going to put up a new page for those interested in being notified about chi.mp shortly and you will be able to request a code through there.

Warren,
Currently chi.mp is in limited beta as we continue to improve the quality and stability of the system as well as implement new features. As I mentioned in my previous comment we will slowly begin growing the chi.mp community by releasing beta codes to owners, people who have signed up to be notified and through our chi.mp events in the next few months.
